ASTILLERO PUERTO DE BALBOA (ASTIBAL) is a shipyard located in the Pacific entrance of the Panama Canal with the capacity to drydock Panamax type vessels. The shipyard was built more than 100 years ago to provide repairs and maintenance services to vessels passing through the Panama Canal.
In addition to ASTIBAL, ALIMIA SHIPYARDS GROUP, which has more than 30 years of experience in the ship repair industry, manages ASTICAN and ASTANDER shipyards located in the Canary Islands and Bay of Biscay respectively. Our shipyards are specialists in all kinds of repairs, maintenance and conversion projects, and work under the most demanding quality standards in the sector.
After rehabilitating and upgrading the shipyard to be able to provide the levels of safety, effectiveness, quality, and professionalism expected by our clients, the yard became fully operative in May 2023.

Facilities
ASTIBAL Shipyard
Strategically located on the Pacific side of the Panama Canal. ASTIBAL is the only Panamax graving dock from south of the US West Coast to Chile.
Workshops
The shipyard has approximately 6,500 m2 of surface area for fully refurbished workshops.
Services
ASTIBAL do all types of repairs on ships including underwater works, hull treatment and tanks preservation, repairs and maintenance of engines, electric equipment, pipe works, steel repairs, tail shaft survey and propellers, and accommodations.
